"Ceramic gas discharge tube" is a kind of short circuit protective device enclosed in ceramic and filled with low pressure inert gas. It is generally divided into two electrodes and three electrodes.

The basic working principle is gas discharge.

When the electric field strength between the electrodes exceeds the breakdown strength of the gas, the gap discharge is caused, which limits the voltage between the electrodes and protects other devices in parallel with the discharge tube. The main characteristics of the product are: large discharge current, small inter-electrode capacitance (≤3pF), high insulation resistance (≥ 10Gω). The breakdown voltage dispersion was larger (±20%), and the reaction speed was slightly slower (the shortest was 0.1-0.2 μs). It is mainly used in cable TV, railway communication, security and other equipment to prevent equipment from being damaged by overvoltage shock and lightning.
